Who is Robert Bobroczkyi? The basketball player making waves as 'The Offspring' in *Alien: Romulus
The online buzz surrounding *Alien: Romulus*, the ninth film in the *Alien* franchise, has been intense. Although audience reactions to the movie have been mixed, many have been taken aback by the unexpected debut of a new villain, known as 'The Offspring', in the final act.
This slender, towering creature, a Xenomorph-human hybrid, is portrayed by Romanian former college basketball player Robert Bobroczkyi.
Who Is Robert Bobroczkyi?
Robert Bobroczkyi, now 24, first attracted attention in the 2016-17 season due to his impressive 7-foot-7 stature. As one of the tallest high school basketball players ever, Bobroczkyi began his career with the Italian amateur team A.S. Stella Azzurra.
In 2018, he relocated to Ohio to attend SPIRE Institute and Academy, where he started playing basketball. By early 2017, he had already become a viral sensation, with his highlights of shooting and shot-blocking amassing over three million views on YouTube.
Bobroczkyi's remarkable height is inherited from his family. His father, Zsigmond, is a former international basketball player standing over 7 feet tall, while his mother, Brunhilde, is 6-foot-1 and had a notable career in both volleyball and handball.
